AGRICULTURAL
DEVELOPMENT:
Agriculture
is the backbone of our rural economy. Most of the target groups and
people are entirely dependent on agriculture for their survival. Unfortunately
due to primitive ways of agriculture, lack of resources to cultivate
their lands (seeds, fertilizers, irrigation facilities etc.) The productivity
is very low. As the productivity is low, their life especially socially
and economically continues to be poor and backward.
Therefore, several programs are planned by EDCI to improve the agricultural
system and thus the economic life of the people. Seeds, fertilizers,
land leveling, bundling and to some extent irrigation facilities are
provided by the EDCI to the marginal farmers. Training in better farming,
horticulture, formation of farmer's cooperatives etc. are the other
services provided. Every year about 1000 farmers are the beneficiaries
of different EDCI programmes.
