Head Office of EDCI

Ecumenical Development Centre of India was formed in 1980 with objectives to serve the communities in the processes of rural development and also work with the Churches for their participation in the Mission of Church especially in the Churches and Society. With this view in mind the centre was registered under the society registration Act, 1860 (Reg.No.130/80) and was also registered under public Trust Act (Reg.No.F-2574 N). EDCI is registered with the government under the foreign contribution Act (No.083870011). It is also registered with income tax authorities and with Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India under foreign contribution Act. All these registrations with the different agencies of the Government are essential for the functioning of the organization.

As per these registrations the EDCI board is formed which carry on the work of the organization. The Board members of the EDCI are composed of people derived from different sections of life, belonging to different faiths, academic pursuits, but having concerns, involvement in the development issues. The board is composed of Protestants. Roman Catholic and a Hindu. They have different academic pursuits to their credit like one is sociologist, a social scientist, another is economist, two members are qualified social service administrators, and other members have vast personal experience of involvement in developmental work.

Thus the present EDCI Board is composed of 7 members who apart from their policy matter and other related responsibilities also actively participate in the different activities and programs to strengthen its work. The Board meets atleast twice a year to decide the important aspects of EDCI's involvement.

Historically, from the initial stages of its formation today EDCI is involved in 190 villages in the central part of India.
